Rainy on Robson
"A little rain never hurt anybody."Living in the Vancouver area and the West Coast (or should I say "Wet Coast") we are used to rain. We have come to expect that rain is a part of every season. So of course when it came time for this shoot, it was raining. This shoot was kind of epic, I'm not going to lie. My friend Gregory Funk and I got to go pickup this killer Range Rover from Land Rover Langley and head to Downtown Vancouver for a shoot on Robson Street. The outfit in this look was provided by Banana Republic. This look is perfect for the transition from winter to spring. It provides protection from the weather, without looking like you are still stuck in the snow. Read below how to build this look yourself.
BUILD THIS LOOK
Coat
This look all started with the trench coat. The trench coat is a classic staple piece that you should have in your wardrobe. This one from Banana Republic is not only stylish, but is water resistant as well for those rainy Vancouver days.
Grey light weight sweater
Even though the temperatures might be coming up as we enter spring, layering is still a good call. I chose this lightweight grey sweater. The neutral grey worked with the trench coat but didn't add any unnecessary warmth or bulk.
White Shirt and Black Tie
Nothing is more classic than a white dress shirt and a skinny black tie. Underneath the sweater, they provided depth, while elevating things to a more professional look. If you wanted the look to be more of a "weekend-running-errands" look, you could lose the shirt and tie, and just keep the sweater or a t-shirt.
Denim
A dark wash denim is my go to pant choice on most days. I feel like they work in most day-to-day situations (where wearing a suit isn't needed). Although with this look, you could wear a pair of black dress pants for the office.
Boots
Boots are a must for fall and winter, and also work in the rainy west coast spring weather as well. I chose these Chelsea boots from Call It Spring.
Accessories
To round out the look, I went with the following accessories:
- Black bag from Coach
- Watch from Medium Watch Co.
- Bracelet from Gent Stone
- Belt from Mission Belt
